Under the Moon: Chapter 15
-------------------------------------
Josh’s POV
“No David, I can’t, I have to go!” I barked at him as I took off my apron, set it on a hook, and reached for my coat.
“Seriously kid, this is the most people we’ve ever had, you gotta help me out!” David pleaded as he held up a spatula in one hand and a plate in the other.
I paused with my coat in my hand and turned to face him. “I’m sorry but I can’t,” I explain, “Katrina is waiting for me to pick her up. Remember? I told you I was planning a surprise for her tonight. I really have to go. I’ll work a double shift tomorrow, okay? I’m sorry.”
I threw my coat on as David muttered something unintelligent under his breath. Whatever. Pushing the back door opened I could feel the sunshine on my skin. It felt good and knew today was going to be perfect.
I got in my car and started it when I heard my phone ring. I didn’t recognize the number but answered it anyways.
“Hello?” I asked.
“Hi this is Lisa, from the dance studio,” she added, “I need you to come here immediately.”
“Wait-what? Why?” My heart started beating faster.
“Well, I can’t really describe it; but something is wrong with Katrina. Can you just come down here?” she asked again.
“Ye-yeah,” I stuttered, nervous. “I’ll-a-I’ll be right there.”
“Okay,” she said, “Please hurry.”
I hung up and threw my phone in the passenger’s seat and slammed my foot on the gas.
Shiit, Kat.
What did you do?
* * * * *
I zipped into the dance studio parking, not even caring if I looked like a maniac. All I cared about was Kat, and what could have happened to her.
Walking through the front doors, I was expecting the worse. I ran each and every possible scenario through my head, preparing myself for what I was about to see. But nothing could have ever prepared me for what I saw.
